Important Announcement Regarding IA

We want to inform all of you what will be happening with IA in the near future. This is the message we are sending to all of our IA fans!

We apologize for this being a long post, but we felt it was the best way to explain everything.

First off, we would like to thank everyone in the IA community. Whether you have been with us since the very beginning, or have just joined us recently, IA would not be where it is today without the support and excitement generated by all of you! It makes us, the team, feel especially happy to see how many of you enjoy our game and its content. It's especially great to see during a time when the hostility towards the content of this kind of game has become extreme from other websites and businesses.

Thanks to your feedback and bug reporting, we've been able to improve upon IA and make it better and better. It feels great to be accepted and welcomed as adult developers on here, and it keeps us inspired to develop more adult games in the future!

As some of you may have heard, IA's development is nearing its completion soon. There will be at least one additional content update after this current build (0.0050) containing a new scene along with an epilogue image. There may be a few additional non-content updates in the future, (such as mod support) but any artwork related updates will be finished in the next build or two.

The primary reason for IA completing is because Soapmonster wanted to finish his tenure with IA, and move onto his own projects and work. He has been providing the character and scene art for IA for nearly 2.5 years! 1.5 years of that time being spent on drawing scenes and animations, for continuous monthly updates since IA first launched in August 2017. His decision is completely understandable considering how much artwork he has put into IA, and how long he has been with the project. This was not a sudden decision made by Soapmonster either, as he had discussed and agreed with the team some time ago that he would complete his artwork with IA after a certain length of time. Soapmonster actually went longer than was originally agreed upon, because he wanted to give a proper send-off for IA and its characters.

We felt it wouldn't feel right to replace Soapmonster with a completely different artist, and it also would be extremely difficult to find an artist capable of drawing and animating everything that Soap has. Artists willing to depict shota and loli are becoming more and more difficult to find, and with good reason; the internet has become very hostile towards that kind of art.

During the course of IA's development, there were several times where it almost was nuked. They were very close calls, where the team honestly debated whether or not we could continue with IA at all, after Patreon effectively de-platformed the game from their service. However, it's not just Patreon that's made developing these kinds of games more difficult, but payment processors in general. They effectively have been imposing their moral will on different crowdfunding platforms, and continue to do so. (An example of this is Paypal removing their service from Subscribestar.)

Back when we were put under review by Patreon for a second time in March 2018, Patreon effectively gave us an ultimatum that many other adult devs have faced: either remove all the content that violates our guidelines, or remove the game from our platform so it can't be funded by Patreon.

Many developers made the first choice, forcing them to change not only dialogue, but the very heart of their game. We never wanted to do this to IA, as it would have gutted everything that made the game what it is. As a result of our decision, we knew we could no longer mention, advertise, or link Patreon in any way, shape, or form in relation to IA. And it definitely hurt us financially.

While the topic of income is a taboo subject, it's important to point out just how much de-platforming can disrupt a developer. Before IA was removed from Patreon, our monthly income was steadily rising every month, reaching a peak of $4,000/month, a very healthy income. After the Patreon review, our income dropped, and now sits around $1400/month, more than a 1/3rd of the amount, and is still falling steadily every proceeding month.

We would have finished IA regardless of the financial situation, but it did play a role in determining what games we would develop down the road. Having a constant fear in the back of your mind of being reported by creating a game you feel passionately about is stressful to deal with, and no one should have to experience it. Sadly, it's the way the climate is right now, and it's difficult to see it reversing anytime soon.

In other words, IA will likely be the first, and only straight shota game we will ever make. Developing such a game, while also trying to earn an income, carries such a high risk, that ultimately it is not a viable option for the team.

We hope this gives you a better understanding as to what we've been through. It was always intended that IA would have an ending, and while there were things we wish could have been added, we feel our first game we ever developed turned out pretty well!

We are currently discussing plans to make IA moddable, after Soap's artwork is completed and the last content update is released. Our goal is to allow fans to expand IA further, and create their own crazy, sexy adventures!

  3. Subscribestar did find an alternate payment processor though, and as a backer that's where I'll be moving anything I can from Patreon. Or wherever else needed, as many times as it will take - letting anyone else establish what games we may or may not play is NOT acceptable. And I'm not planning to start playing vanilla games just because that's what I'm supposed to like.

Anyway, thank you for everything you've done - please know that it was all very much appreciated indeed. Good luck with whatever you have in mind for the future!

  8. This saddens me a lot, I've been playing around the time the game first released and everyday since then I always checked for new updates, I am sad I'll never be able to find any games like yours, it was some of the hottest stuff I've ever seen, I hope the new game becomes as hot, but why dont you guys make a sex curse website and make shota games on there? That way you could still have funding and make these types of games?

  11. Really sad to see this end early. It's something I just found recently and I was looking into some way to contribute to the devs and came across this. Really sad to see this game will go unfinished. Also sad to hear that y'all won't be doing any more ss games in the future. This one was really well done and I would have loved to see more. Is there really no platform in which to fund this?

Either way thanks for the game. As long as you keep putting games out with interesting characters and writing I'll still play em. Although I will miss the SS.

  16. This is really dissapointing considering the potential and unfinished plot lines for characters like Edna and Vicky (I could count Janet and Julia but for the sake of argument I assume they are supposed to be side girls and not receive as much content as Kira, Simone and Sam). I mean yeah, sure, I understand where you are coming from, but it still hurts at the end of the day because of previously mentioned potential. /ss/ games can be counted in the palm of one hand after all. I could also suggest using a service like SubscribeStar but it doesn't matter since the artist is gone (although in my opinion you should try to find another artist and just finish whatever was original plan, artstyle differences be damned). Plus I hope that this is going to be a lesson for the team about setting clear goals so that you won't find yourself in situation like this where the game is going to finish on version 0.51 or so, since for example I expected it to get updates (they wouldn't even have to be regular) up to version 1.00, unless what we have now plus whatever final update brings was all there was in development plan. I don't feel this is right way for this project to end, but better this than silent abandonment. If you're happy with it, more power to you, but I am going to be bitter about unrealised potential. At this point it's all about personal feelings rather than cold facts, but I guess that shows how much I liked the game and simply wish it wouldn't end like this. IA deserved better, deserved completion.

    1. Oh yeah, and for anyone else looking for another /ss/ game to wait for and follow, check out Urban Demons. Creator has Glassfish, somewhat known /ss/ artist, on board and she's great. Plus the game recently began to continue development so there's that.

  18. I posted a message on F95 about what I would like to see before this game ends development, so figured I would post a similar one on here as well. First off, that pool party was excellent. On that note, knowing this game is quickly coming to an end, I honestly would only like to see one thing. In regards to all the girls you can impregnate (i.e.- given the impregnate option during h-scenes), I would like to see some scenes where they reveal they are pregnant or maybe even a time jump where it shows them with pregnant bellies or both. I have seen too many games tease pregnancy, but not follow through. So, for me personally, it would be nice to see that. I am not sure what Soapmonster has in mind for the last scenes, but I sincerely hope this content is one of them.

  20. Well, as Patreon shuts down all good things I have to wonder, will you move to Subscribestar and other alternatives. Its always nice to keep your portfolio diversified.

  23. I've just played it recently and I do really like the story and art. Damn this art... This style is so great! I wish You could do much more than the current version of the game can offer. Also, it would be great to see more animations. I'm an artist myself so I do really admire other artists works. I hope You will find a way for another game like this one in the future. We can never know what will come after all.

  24. now this is sad. I just found this game like 3 days ago and i love it. Is ther no way to continue this series? Maybe release Insexual Awakening 2 as a sequel a couple of years in the future where Nate and Sam are grown and still continue with the whole family business? hiring a new artist to make new artwork? I really wanted to see grandma impregnated. I like the relationships between the girls.

  25. It is sad but understandable that if you go back to making a game it is not like IA or at least not with shota or loli, personally I liked this since there are almost no games like that, unfortunately this is the hostile internet today, even though it's a pity that there is nothing similar to the future, at least I can say that you have my respect for wanting to give a deserved end to IA even with those annoying obstacles of the sites and financial obstacles.

I want to congratulate the IA and Soap team for their great work and I wish them luck in their future projects.

  26. As I sit here watching a certain newsrag program on a certain cable news channel, I hear an obnoxious woman start quoting statistics about sex offenders that are appalling! It makes me think to myself, "If they are so dangerous, why do we let them back on the streets? Why don't we just lock them up for life? If it is true that almost all sex offenders re-offend, we should never let them out of prison again." And this line of thought led me to my favorite question: Why are we doing it?

When the woman on the news show started spouting her statistics, I wrote them down to verify them. Here were the claims that were made: 90% of sex offenders will re-offend. 90% of sex offenders will commit a new sex crime within 3 years. Sex offenders cannot be treated. All child molesters are pedophiles. The only treatment that works for sex offenders is execution.
